Our Clinic

Our 900 sq. ft. rehabilitation clinic in Elmsdale is fully equipped with non-slip flooring and specialised rehabilitation tools. Designed with comfort and accessibility in mind, the clinic offers easy entry for pets with mobility challenges and a calm, low-stress environment.

We schedule staggered appointments to reduce noise and traffic, provide longer appointment times when needed to allow proper acclimatisation, and have separate entry doors for patients who find other animals stressful.

Most importantly, our clinic is filled with patience, compassion, and plenty of love, attention, and treats to help every patient feel safe, comfortable, and confident during their visit.

Our Team

Kirsty-Jane Powell-Palmer is the founder of Fur Ability Animal Rehabilitation and brings over 15 years of experience in the veterinary industry. Originally from the UK, Kirsty-Jane relocated to Nova Scotia in 2017, where she established Fur Ability with the goal of providing pets with expert, compassionate, and evidence-based rehabilitation care.

She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy, a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Veterinary Nursing, and is a Certified Canine Fitness Trainer. This diverse background allows Kirsty-Jane to approach each patient’s care from both a medical and rehabilitation perspective, ensuring a comprehensive and well-rounded understanding of their individual needs.

Kirsty-Jane is passionate about helping pets maintain an active, comfortable lifestyle through thoughtful conditioning, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.

A lifelong dog owner, Kirsty-Jane currently trains and competes in agility and scent work with her Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, Sherbet Lemon and Phoenix. She is also actively involved in the sport alongside her two children, who compete as junior handlers. This hands-on experience in canine sports further informs her approach to conditioning, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.
